Here we go again!
Most countries’ restrictions on tourism have eased significantly. We are watching these closely, and keeping an eye on visa requirements, and, as usual, we will make sure that everyone booked on one of our tours is fully briefed in good time.
These tours are our holidays as well, so of course we do everything possible to ensure that we, as well as you, have a really good time!

17-31 January 2024 - Sunny South India: Textiles and Heritage. A tour of south India with intimate workshops covering textile production and processing
26 February – 14 March 2024 – Rail On All Gauges!
Broad gauge, metre gauge and narrow! The spectacular Kangra Valley Railway in the Himalayan foothills, and a rare metre gauge hill line in central Rajasthan
13 – 29 March 2024 – Southern India
A real adventure! A train driving simulator, the railway works where steam locos have been built this decade, houseboats, fish cuisine in Cochin and the Nilgiri rack line. Finish with a week in Goa to recover!
Darjeeling Tours for the very best of Indian Hill Railways and more! We offer a range of escorted tours and add-ons to all of our itineraries so you can visit other parts of India, such as the amazing Taj Mahal or Kerala’s backwaters. In India, April to June is unpleasantly hot (on the plains) and July to September is the monsoon season, which explains our dates for Indian tours. We also have a tour to Colorado in the States, where magical things seem to happen!

Our Tours
Most of our escorted rail tours include steam charters, and on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway there’s our exclusive dining charter plus a bus that follows the train along the line, so you can get those great shots of the locomotive in action. There’s plenty for partners to enjoy on all our Indian train tours - group tours - and you’ll have time in each place to relax and explore.
In the hill stations, we stay in interesting heritage properties such as the Windamere Hotel in Darjeeling or the Accord Highland in Ooty - oozing with character! Each rail tour is accompanied by one of our experienced Tour Managers who will make sure that your holiday runs smoothly.
We don’t just organise holidays to India, we also specialise in the USA and have great tours to Colorado. Following our successful 2018 tour to Australia we have an even better one organised for next year!
For a first visit to India, we have our Indian Magic 2024 tour, visiting the three famous Hill Stations of Darjeeling, Shimla and Ooty. Our Darjeeling Mail tour recreates the 1940’s rail journey between Kolkata and Darjeeling, running down the spine of Bangladesh, and giving an insight into the rarely visited country of Bangladesh. Also have a look at our Rail On All Gauges tour - this really covers some of the most beautiful and interesting places in North India and some remote areas of Rajasthan. Our Southern India tour has been designed to cover the best of South India, with a rteally good balance between rail and general tourist activities.
