Pricing

We are offering fully inclusive pricing on most tours which includes flights, however for some destinations we’ve introduced “ground only” pricing. This means that the price you pay is for the tour, say in India (which will include all the local flights etc) – and you arrange the international flights yourself. Of course, we can make all the flight arrangements if you’d prefer – just let us know what you’d like to do.

Insurance

You must have suitable travel insurance to participate in our tours. We recognise that you may well have suitable annual insurance, which is fine as long as it meets the following minimum requirements:

  • · 24 hour emergency medical service
  • · Medical and other expenses (including returning home early) (minimum £2 million)
  • · Personal accident (minimum £25,000)
  • · Personal public liability (minimum £1 million)
  • · Loss of passport (minimum £250)

Payment

We need a deposit of £295 per person. The balance of payment will be required nine weeks before departure. We accept cash, debit cards and cheques with no surcharge. We can also accept credit cards without surcharge where there is no convenient alternative, but as this incurs a substantial cost from the card provider, we would ask you to use alternative methods wherever possible.

Cancellation

Cancellation prior to three months before departure will involve the loss of £95 (the balance of the deposit will be returned). Thereafter, cancellation involves the loss of the full deposit. Cancellation within ten weeks of departure will involve the full cost of the holiday, unless we are able to resell it, in which case only the deposit (plus all expenses incurred) will be forfeit.

The tours require a minimum number of 20 to run: in the unlikely event that it will be necessary to cancel, the decision will be made nine weeks before departure, and all monies paid will be refunded in full. A copy of our Terms and conditions will be supplied with all booking acknowledgements.

In common with most tour operators, should government action increase the costs of the tour (for example, by raising airport taxes), we must reserve the right to pass them on

Visas

Visa requirements vary from country to country. If you are travelling to India you are likely to need a visa. We have more information on obtaining an Indian visa. Otherwise, check out your country’s website for the country you’re visiting.

Other information

We need some additional information including your next of kin, for emergencies and your passport and visa details. You can download our form here. Just send it to us with your booking form. NEW! Online form

Special Booking Condition - Steam Trains and Tourist Railways

The era of regular steam passenger trains on the world’s railways is now almost a thing of the past. As a result, tours that feature steam haulage are almost exclusively based on either visits to preserved railways or the operation of steam locomotives on national or private railways purely for tourist purposes. In many parts of the world, preserved railways may only have one steam locomotive in working order at any one time and frequently where steam trains are run on otherwise everyday railways, they operate only a single steam locomotive. We will include such railways where we know such engines to be in working order, or under normal repairs or maintenance and expected to be completed by the time of our tour.

We do not include such operations where we know the engines to be out of service with no active plans or likelihood that they will be repaired. However if, despite our best efforts, a steam locomotive is unavailable on the day due to non-completion of repairs/overhauls, breakdown or other factors such as fire bans, a train may be cancelled or diesel hauled.

Our limit of liability to you will be to refund any costs we can recoup from operators resulting from such cancellation/non provision. We may not receive refunds from some operators in such circumstances. You agree that the non provision of a steam locomotive or cancellation of any sort of special train, or scheduled train on private or preserved railways will not be considered grounds for cancellation by you and normal cancellation charges will continue to apply.
