Thursday
After an early breakfast, you’ll catch the NJP Express from Sealdah Station, running out via the Farakka Barrage on the Ganges and Malda, bringing you to New Jalpaiguri at the foot of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway at about 1920. You’ll be met and taken to the Cindrella Hotel for a late dinner.

Friday
Your first day on the DHR. On this free day, the options include photographing the colourful bazaar, reconnoitring the Darjeeling line and visiting the DHR’s locomotive shed at Siliguri. You spend your second night at the Cindrella Hotel.

Saturday
We’re expecting a Safari Special today from Siliguri Junction to Tindharia, which leaves Siliguri Junction at 1115. With advance notice, there is the option to ride it instead. From Tindharia, you’ll go by road up to Kurseong to catch the retimed afternoon school train up to Darjeeling for the night.
