Monday 10 October

We meet at Heathrow Airport at 17:45 for our BA flight BA257 departing at 17.35 to Delhi arriving...

Tuesday 11 October

...at  06:20. After checking in to our hotel and freshening up, we board our coach at 14:00 to Old Delhi then enjoy a guided rickshaw ride to the bustling spice market followed by a visit to Parathewali Gali – a whole street lined with shops specialising only in Parathas (Indian flat bread).  We’ll take a short tour of Delhi to give you a flavour of this city. Dinner is at Chor Bizarre restaurant – where you’ll enjoy a range of different regional dishes.

Wednesday 12 October

After breakfast we drive the 250kms to Jaipur.  On the way, we stop at a village where we’ll see a demonstration of local village cooking. (Stop on the way for lunch.)

Thursday 13 October

This morning we travel to Amber Fort where we’ll be taken to the entrance by elephant (if available), then into Jaipur city for sightseeing (Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace etc). In the afternoon, we’ll visit the “Halwais” where we’ll see traditional Indian sweets being made and sold. We’ll also see the Lassiwalas and Dal-pakodawalas at work: these are fantastic “roadside” treats for the locals in the winter months. The highlight of our visit to the region is tonight’s Royal Dinner in the private residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, in the city palace compound. You’ll enjoy this royal reception with its camels, elephants, rose petals and fabulous food, fit for a king!

Friday 14 October

After breakfast we drive the 280 kms to Nagaur in the Rajasthan desert. After our long drive, the afternoon is free for you to relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Saturday 15 October

Today you have a free day to relax in the resort – or you might like to take up one of the many options (e.g. camel safari, horse trek). There are even folk dances (Kalbelia), puppet shows, a snake charmer and magic shows to keep you amused! In the evening, we have a sunset sand dune dinner with a “Cooking in the desert” demonstration by our chef after which we enjoy a cultural evening with tribal dancing and music.

Sunday 16 October

This morning after breakfast we drive the 135 kms to Jodhpur where we  check into Ranbanka Palace, a heritage hotel. In the afternoon, we enjoy a city tour of Jodhpur visiting the Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, and evening stroll through Saddar Bazaar. In the early evening we see a demonstration of “Royal Feast” dishes by our chef followed by dinner.

Monday 17 October

Our destination today is the romantic city of Udaipur – 266kms from Jodhpur. We break our journey for a visit to the amazing Jain temple at Ranakpur. The afternoon is free to relax at our hotel, the Shikarbadi, previously the hunting lodge of the royal family of Mewar, with spectacular views of the surrounding wildlife sanctuary.
