 India’s textiles tell stories that stretch back centuries. Every region has its own techniques, motifs, dyes and traditions, often shaped by trade routes, royal patronage, religion and geography. One town may be known for intricate embroidery, another for silk weaving, while elsewhere artisans still print fabrics by hand using carved wooden blocks and natural dyes.
For travellers interested in textiles, craftsmanship and cultural heritage, India offers something far richer than shopping alone. It offers the chance to meet the people keeping these traditions alive and to experience the landscapes, communities and cultures that shaped them. |
